I’ve been wanting to draw this plant for a while. Usually I’m can google the name of a plant but I’m not sure how I’d describe this one without getting zillions of search results. It’s been in Mum’s garden for months. In the full sun, it had gone from being a very full and leafy plant to a much reduced one. So, it’s had a new home on my balcony and seems to respond well to part shade.
The palette is quite complex (for me!) and one I’d not have dreamed up – Indian red, shadow green, carmine, pink and a bit of yellow. With such delicate flowers you’d not think the leaves would be so jagged looking. But, there you have it – a combination of colour and shape by Mother nature that works.
